Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare: I am the first person in my family to pursue a career in medicine. I graduated from community college as a RN in the late 1990's and started working in a pediatric step-down unit early in my career. I was lucky to have worked along a team of Nurse Practitioners that mentored me and encouraged me to pursue my Master's Degree in Nursing. I have always loved being a student and going back to get my Master's Degree was a slow pace - one class per semester while working part time as RN. I enjoy taking care of people. What I do when I'm not seeing patients: When I am not a work, I am almost always with my family.
