Kara Rushing, FNP-C, received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Mississippi University for Women in Columbus, and her master’s degree in nursing from the University of Alabama-Birmingham. Rushing says she chose health care to be able to help and care for people. “This job allows me the opportunity to cultivate relationships and extend love to people on a daily basis, often when they need it most,” she says. Rushing says she joined the North Mississippi Medical Center staff when she became a registered nurse in 2004 not only because of its reputation as a good employer, but also because a larger hospital would provide ample opportunities to grow as a nurse.
