I had been a bedside nurse in critical care for 10 years when it became increasingly more evident that we needed a stronger presence in the community to focus on wellness and disease prevention. Advanced practice clinicians play an important role in medical practices, expanding access to patient care in our communities. I love being a nurse practitioner, being a member of the treatment team, and using my training to connect and communicate efficiently with patients to help empower them to be active in their own care.
